How to calculate GPA on the 4.0 scale
You have letter grades and credits for the term. You will turn them into a credit-weighted GPA on the 4.0 scale. Four courses, A (3 credits), B+ (3), A- (4) and B (3), give 45.7 points over 13 credits, a GPA of 3.51. Nothing leaves this tab.
Open the GPA calculator with your transcript at hand. Pass/fail courses do not count. If your school gives A+ 4.3, tick the box. Nothing is uploaded.

Pick the letter grade and type the credits in each row. Add course adds a row; × removes one. Credits above 30 or 0 are skipped as typos.
Read the math
A × 3 = 12, B+ × 3 = 9.9, A- × 4 = 14.8, B × 3 = 9. Total 45.7 points over 13 credits = 3.51. Quality points and total credits are shown so you can check.
A 3, B+ 3, A- 4, B 3: 45.7 points over 13 credits = 3.51. Handle A+ and pass/fail
Tick A+ = 4.3 only if your school uses it; the GPA can then exceed 4.0. Leave pass/fail courses out; they usually add credits but no points.
Copy the result
Copy puts the GPA, total credits, quality points and course count on the clipboard. For a cumulative GPA, add every term's courses in one list.
FAQ
Can I calculate GPA free online?
Yes. cv.cm does the math in this tab. Nothing is uploaded.
How is GPA calculated?
Each grade becomes points, multiplied by the course credits. The sum of points is divided by the sum of credits.
Does A+ count as 4.3?
By default A+ is 4.0. Tick A+ = 4.3 if your school uses that scale.
Do pass/fail courses count?
Usually not. Leave them out of the list.
How do I get a cumulative GPA?
Put every course from every term in one list. The result is weighted by credits across all of them.
