FAQ
How is WPM calculated?
Net WPM counts only correctly typed characters, divides by 5 (the standard word length) and then by the minutes used. Wrong characters lower accuracy and add nothing to speed.
Why does Chinese, Japanese or Korean show characters per minute?
Those languages are not split into words by spaces and are typed through an input method, so a WPM figure would be invented. We count correct characters per minute, not counting spaces.
When does the timer start?
With your first keystroke. The test stops when time runs out or you finish the passage, whichever comes first.
Can I paste the text?
No. Paste and drop are turned off in the typing box so the result reflects real typing.
Are my results saved or sent?
No. The score is shown on this page only. Reloading clears it.
