ISO 216 sizes keep the same 1:√2 shape, so a page scales from A4 to A3 or A5 without cropping. A0 has an area of one square metre.
JIS B sizes, common in Japan and China for notebooks and books, are slightly larger than ISO B. JIS B5 is 182 × 257 mm, while ISO B5 is 176 × 250 mm.
