Key log

Fn and some media or system keys never reach the browser, so they cannot be tested here. Tab moves on after you have tested it once.

    How to use this tool

Check that every key on your keyboard works. Nothing is uploaded.

    1. Open Keyboard tester

A full keyboard map appears. Click it so it can read your key presses.

    2. Press every key

Each working key turns pink, and the last key shows its key, code and keyCode on the left.

    3. Check the count

The counter shows how many keys you have tested and the most held at once. Reset starts over.

    FAQ

How do I test my keyboard?

Click the keyboard picture, then press every key. Keys that work turn pink; the one you are holding turns dark.

A key does not light up. Is it broken?

Not always. Fn, some media keys and keys the system reserves (like Print Screen on some computers) never reach the browser. Try the key in a text field too.

    What is key rollover?

How many keys the keyboard reports at once. Hold several keys together; “Most at once” shows the highest number seen.

What do key, code and keyCode mean?

key is the character or name the key produces, code is the physical key position, and keyCode is the older numeric code many games still use.

    Is anything recorded?

No. Key presses are shown in this tab only and are not sent anywhere.
