About this data
Infant mortality is one of the clearest signs of a health system's reach: most infant deaths come from premature birth, birth complications and infections that clean water, vaccines and trained birth attendants prevent.
The UN Inter-agency Group for Child Mortality Estimation (UN IGME) combines surveys, censuses and civil registration into one comparable series.
