Cheat codes
The 30-lives code is entered on the title screen. Game Genie codes go in the emulator cheat menu. Chinese bootlegs often use different codes.

Full Contra (NES) clear: 8 stages. The US title code Up Up Down Down Left Right Left Right B A Start gives 30 lives. Grab S (spread) first. Save-state before bosses.
30 lives, weapons, controls
Title screen: ↑↑↓↓←→←→BA then Start for 30 lives. Many FC dumps skip it — use Game Genie instead. A jump, B shoot, down+jump to drop through.
Weapons: S spread (best), M machine gun, L laser, F fire, R barrier, B bombs. A hit drops you back to the default gun.
Stage 1 Jungle
Push right. Crouch under shots. Shoot flying soldiers as they leap in. Take S from the first flying weapon bay.
End turrets: ground guns first, then the raised one. Shoot when the barrel faces away.
Stage 2 Base 1
Auto-scroll indoors. Destroy flashing sensors to open doors. Moving floors — keep walking. Clear above you before a jump.
Boss: the wall core. Shoot when it opens; dodge the ring. Spread melts it.
Stage 3 Waterfall
Climb. Plant your feet, then shoot. Side gunners. Falling platforms.
Boss at the top: turrets on the sides. Stand on the side ledges.
Stage 4 Base 2
Indoor sensors with extra vertical loops. Time flame jets.
Boss like stage 2, denser bullets. Hug a wall and shoot openings.
Stage 5 Snowfield
Snow slides — do not over-run pits. Alternate snowmen and turrets. Planes overhead.
Bunker boss: lower ports, then upper. Spread covers the face.
Stage 6 Energy Zone
Slopes and orbiting energy balls. Thread the gaps. Do not tunnel-vision on soldiers.
Boss: mechanical core. Weak when open. Missiles from the sides.
Stage 7 Hangar
Conveyor belts push you into fire. Walk against them. Priority: incoming transports.
Boss: dual cores or a moving turret. Clear adds, then dump spread.
Stage 8 Alien's Lair
Tight halls, aliens from walls. Spread the path. Mouth-doors need a core destroyed first.
Final boss: organs on the sides, then the heart. Circle the ring shots. Credits after it dies.
Clear route
Jungle → Base 1 → Waterfall → Base 2 → Snow → Energy → Hangar → Lair. Keep S. 30 lives is for learning; turn cheats off for a clean clear.
FAQ
What is the Contra 30 lives code?
On many NES titles: Up Up Down Down Left Right Left Right B A, then Start. FC pirate carts often skip it or use another sequence. Game Genie infinite lives is on this page too.
How do I play Contra on a phone?
Load your ROM, rotate to landscape, and use the on-screen pad. Spread gun (S) is the most useful pickup.
Does cv.cm host the Contra ROM?
No. Commercial Contra is not on our S3. Choose a .nes file you own. It never leaves this tab.
Contra walkthrough for stage 1?
Grab S, crouch under shots, clear the jungle, then shoot the sensors in the base. The steps above cover the first boss.
Can I use a cheat menu?
Yes. After the ROM boots, open emulator cheats and paste the Game Genie codes.
Emulator cores live on S3. A game starts from a hosted ROM when that file exists, or from a local file you pick. Local files are not uploaded.
