Walkthrough

Sonic 1: six zones × 3 acts plus Final Zone. Chaos Emeralds are 100%, not required for the credits.

  1. Green Hill 1–3

    Green Hill 1–3

    Build speed, keep rings. Boss: jump the wrecking ball car.

  2. Marble 1–3

    Marble 1–3

    Lava. Walk. Push blocks. Save on act 3.

  3. Spring Yard 1–3

    Springs and spikes. Boss: spiked ball, hit when it stops.

  4. Labyrinth 1–3

    Bubbles. Drown timer. Level select skips this if you only want Scrap Brain.

  5. Star Light 1–3

    Speed is safe. Jump bombs. Rings before the boss.

  6. Scrap Brain and Final

    Scrap Brain and Final

    Traps. Final Zone is boss-only. Hit Robotnik until the ending. Emeralds change the credits.

FAQ

Sonic 1 cheat codes?

Lives, rings, invincible, plus the title-screen level select on many Genesis dumps.

Play Sonic on a phone?

Yes. Mega Drive is mid-weight. Landscape plus a pad is best.

ROM hosted?

No. Load .md / .gen / .bin.

How do I open level select?

On many US titles: Up Down Left Right, hold A, press Start. Some revisions differ.

Sonic 2?

Different ROM. This page is Sonic 1. Same emulator core.
